Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. With a smartphone app they can lock and unlock the car or start the engine and even locate the vehicle.
Put the key fob face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that opens it, insert an object between the cover and the fob, and pull up carefully.
Locking the Door
Volvo's remote key fobs are able to unlock the doors, tailgate and the fuel filler flap of your car with the touch of one button. The remote key fobs also turn on the ignition and set off the alarm. They can also operate the sunroof, provided it's equipped. You'll never have to search for your keys, or get locked out of your vehicle.
You may not be aware of some key fob functions that are hidden. One of these is the manual lock/unlock button, which you can use in the event that the battery on your key fob goes out.
To push the manual lock/unlock button Hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find volvo keys at the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open a cover that conceals the manual key blade. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise using a flathead or coin.
The Engine is Ready to Start
Modern Volvo key fobs offer the convenience and performance that is unrivalled by manual keys. However, just like any battery-powered electronic device the key fob may lose its charge, or cease working after a certain period of time. If you've noticed that your key fob has become less responsive when you press the lock or unlock buttons, that's an indication that it's in need of a new battery.
You can enable this feature by using the key fob in case your car has a dealer installed Engine Remote Start. The car will then heat or cool to the exact temperature it was set at when parked, and it will operate for up to 15 minutes.
Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover on the back of the key fob. A button should be placed under the cover at a diagonal, near the body's edge. You can remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will fall free and slide away and reveal the manual key blade within! If you're unable to locate the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access to find an undiscovered lever or slot.

Close the Windows
One of the features that is hidden on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to close all windows at once using the fobs. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a tight parking spot, or even just when you're in need of fresh air in the cabin while driving.
Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, if you have one. When you're done with the car you can shut the doors by pressing the lock button a second time for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car by using the key fob. This will sound an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home in peace after a night out. This feature comes in handy should you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or you want to safeguard your family members when they are away.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo's key fob comes with useful features. They are ideal when you're swamped with groceries or helping kids pack their sports gear after a workout.
If you own the Hands-Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) Then you can open it using the key fob. You can open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it using the same button.
When you're in the mood to start your car then use the key fob to push the START button (and don't be concerned about the battery dying or your car not starting since it comes with a backup mechanical key slot as well). This is only one of the many tricks you can use for your brand new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm
Modern key fobs offer a great deal of convenience over a conventional mechanical car key. They don't always work perfectly and batteries can fail. You can try programming your key fob at home if are in a hurry or don't have the time to go to the shop.
Place your key fobs as well as batteries and additional keys on a clean surface. Locate the small black button in the bottom left corner on the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure underneath.
The button for unlocking the key fob two times quickly, and you'll be able to open all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two minutes, you are able to close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owners manual should have a way to reset the alarm.
